INVESTIGATION
Most students don”t
live for the
classroom; they live
in spite of it !Usually, the
things that interest
them most happen
outside the four
walls of the
school building and
outside your contact
with them.Their lives
are often filled
with special interests
that you aren”t
even aware
of. Whether it”s sports, music, pets, clubs, or hobbies, there will
be something that
will capture the extra—curricular imagination
of each student.
FIND OUT
WHAT THAT IS, AND
USE IT AS
A BUILDING BLOCK
TO DEVELOP A
LEARNING RELATIONDHIP WITH
YOUR STUDENTS.
A little
investigation is in
order. Why ? Because your students”
education depends on it.
You can
use their natural
interests as links
to other interests. LEARN WHAT
THEY DO AT
HOME, AFTER SCHOOL , ON
WEEKENDS.Then, use that knowledge
to influence your
teaching methods.
Learning
isn”t a one—way street
with a dead
end. It”s an exciting
superhighway, with untold exit
and entrances can
mean the difference
between LEARNING and
LABOURING. Draw parallels between
the students” hobbies
and your subject. Only
then will the “light” shine.
“ A HOBBY
IS SOMETHING YOU
GO WILD ABOUT
TO KEEP FROM
GOING CRAZY.” ----
Jack Benny
