APPEARANCE
“Your appearance reflects
your attitude.” It”s true.
How you
feel about yourself
inwardly shows
up in how you
dress. There”s just something
about successful people---they
look like it. Appearance is no substitute
for aptitude , but it
will get you
an audience. The way
you look is
initially as important
as what you
know. Dress to succeed. Work on
your appearance. And you
really can dress
for success. How ?
DRESS CONFIDENTLY. A
future employer may
look at your
sloppy clothes and
decide that you
will do your
work just as
sloppily.Be confident about
your clothing. Let it
say , “ Iam
qualified for this
work or assignment”
and you”ll feel
that way.
DRESS WITH STYLE. Leisure
suits are parked
on the back
rack of consignment
shops. Leave them there ! It
only takes a
thumb through a
catalogue or magazine
to see what
the fashion trends
are. You don”t have
to copy the
fringe element.But notice
what the businessmen
are wearing.
DRESS APPROPRIATELY. The
dress code may
be spelled out
in the employee
manual , or it may
not. Don”t take any
chances. Dress in a
way that reflects
your profession ,in a way
that says, “
I’m available for
that promotion !”
DRESS CONSERVATIVELY. Clothing is
expensive. Look for bargains. Consider buying
from a consignment
shop that has
nearly new clothes. You
don”t need to
spend hundreds to
look like a
million !
STAY NEAT
AND CLEAN. Use your
iron. Shine your shoes.Keep
your hair trimmed. Shower. Use a
breath mint.
ASK FOR
AN OPINION. You
don”t have to
appear on a
reality show to
get an evaluation
of your appearance. Ask those
you respect
most.Take some hints
from “ the stands “.
DRESS TO
SUCCED. What”s on
your body will
affect what”s on
your mind.
Your appearance
does make a
difference ---especially to yourself. Make a
fashion statement , and
let that statement
be , “ I
feel good about
myself. “
NO SHIRT , NO
SHOES , NO FUTURE !
